Device Power/Charging Problems - First Steps
Quick Power Troubleshooting: 1. Double check connections - Check both the power port on the chromebook itself AND the charger itself. Look for bends, dents, or damage that may have occurred. - Ensure the charger is tightly connected to the charging port on your chromebook, & the power brick and electrical-side of the charger is plugged into an electrical outlet in your home not prone to be turned off by light switches or powerstrips. 2. Force Restart the Chromebook. - Force-restarting the device can help. While the chromebook is plugged in, press the Refresh and Power keys on the keyboard simultaneously to reset the device. The device should reboot. If this doesn't work, try: holding the Refresh and Power and ESC keys on the keyboard simultaneously. If you're met with a screen stating "Chrome is missing or damaged", close the lid to turn it back off, wait a few moments, and power it up again as normal. 3. Verify Battery functioning (If device turns on while plugged in) If you are able to get the device turned on, leave it plugged in for ~10 minutes or so. Aftwards, remove it from power. If the device immediately dies, this is an indication that the battery may have failed; in such a case, we can move to hand in your device for a repair, but you can continue to use it while connected to AC power.
